Much of the global warming research that was done in the past has been looked at today as a “golden truth.” There has been a lot of research still underway to determine why global warming is taking place. Unfortunately most of this research is simply going back to the first discoveries that were made, and finding out that some of them weren’t as true as they had originally thought. What do we really know about global warming?

Global warming research indicates warming occurs when greenhouse gasses become so dense that they prevent the suns energy from escaping through the atmosphere, causing increased temperatures. This is believed to be caused by the burning of fossil fuels and other industrial pollutants. Many organizations have been trying to find a way to limit fossil fuel consumption in an attempt to reduce this global warming effect. Another attempt at limiting the global warming effects is to plant new forests. New research shows that what seems like a good idea is potentially dangerous for some animal life.

Global warming research teams have been planting new forests in an attempt to lower the carbon monoxide levels in the atmosphere in an attempt to reduce these gasses. Since there is a large amount of this gas in the atmosphere then planting more forests and vegetation would be beneficial right? Well, scientists have now discovered that plant life also releases methane into the atmosphere. So now it looks like deforestation would be the only way to prevent further global warming.

The truth is, global warming research has to re-evaluate many of its claims because now we know a little bit more about what we are dealing with. This shouldn’t be looked at as failure in the way of their research. We now know more about global warming and can use this information to put policies into place that will reduce gasses produced by plants and humans. It is actually better that they re-evaluate this sooner (by conducting global warming research) than finding out 50 years down the road that our efforts have been doing nothing more than contributing to the problem.
